About me
Hello. I'm Julie Broadfoot, a professional photographer based in the southside of Glasgow, working across the UK. I've been doing this full-time for eleven years and I'm rarely seen without a camera glued to my face.
I'm a proud Auntie, a runner who doesn't run enough, a reader, a crisp addict, and I'm older than I look. I'm obsessed with animals. I'm a volunteer wildlife courier and I foster homeless hamsters. I would have a houseful of creatures if my rescue cat Roxy allowed it. My most commonly-used phrase is "please may I speak to your dog?".
I'll help you get over your nerves
I have a superpower. I'll get natural, happy photos even if you think "there's no way you'll get a good photo of me!". Most people feel like that but I'm great at making people comfortable in front of my camera. I also get nervous being photographed (it takes a wee while to get used to it and it really depends who's photographing me) but those feelings feed the empathy that helps you.
My style of photography
I shoot a mix of relaxed, authentic portraits and documentary-style candid moments. Read my 'style of wedding photography' page to find out, er, more about my style of wedding photography. That natural, candid style is the focus of my work, whether I'm photographing weddings, events, portraits, animals or performances.
Experienced professional photographer
I learned my craft shooting live music gigs and stills in TV/radio studios during a long career at the BBC. In 2010, I decided it was time to move on. I walked away from producing websites for River City and Radio 1 to become a full-time photographer.
Self-employment makes for an interesting (and challenging) life but I now work for individuals, small business owners, famous faces, charities and big commercial clients. This means I’m experienced in working in many different environments and I'm shooting all year round, not just in wedding season.
If you’re interested in geekery, I shoot with Nikon D780 bodies and a variety of Nikon pro lenses, and I could talk about camera bags all day.
Trust me, I’m a photographer
I'm discreet, trustworthy, friendly and approachable so you can trust me to fit in, whether I'm herding your friends and family into group shots, crawling on the floor to get a photograph of a kid trying to steal cake, or lurking with a long lens across the room.

Natural light and symmetry
When it comes to visuals, I'm a sucker for symmetry and clean lines, natural light and white walls, fairy lights, patterns and reflections. But I also love cloudy skies, old brick walls, bokeh, negative space, abstracts and oddities... whether I'm at a shoot or grabbing iPhone pics on the move.
