Whether you call it an engagement shoot, a pre-wedding shoot or a save-the-date shoot, it goes way beyond an opportunity for you and your partner to get great photos of the two of you.
We'll have a chance to get to know each other, and work together, before your wedding.
You'll see how my camera and I work, and I'll see how you interact.
I'll find out if there are any angles you don't like so I do my best to avoid them on your wedding day.
If we do the shoot early enough then you'll be able to use the images on your save-the-date cards. We might even be able to do it at your wedding venue and the photos could be incorporated into your invitations.
Some couples display their engagement shoot pictures at their wedding, either as a collection of small prints, as a large signing frame or in a guest book.
If you are worried about what you look like in photos (most of us feel the same way) then it's the perfect time for me to help you overcome your nerves. You'll relax once you see the results.
I treat it the same way as your wedding portraits but we have a lot more time to play with. I usually allow up to two hours for an engagement shoot.
If you want to include your children or dog (or cat, horse or hamster) in the shoot, that’s fine! We can work out the best place and time to do this. It’s best if you bring another adult along to look after them whilst we do your couple shots though.
Engagement shoots can be booked with or without wedding photography. Simply get in touch with me for prices.
If you feel particularly anxious about being photographed or you don't want to commit to a full engagement shoot then I also offer a quick practice shoot. We'll meet up, chat about your concerns and do a few practice shots so you get the feel of what it'll be like on your wedding day. I'll show you the pictures I'm taking during the shoot. This will only take up to an hour and I promise to help you feel better about being in front of the camera.
This can work well early on in your engagement or shortly before your wedding day to settle your nerves. And nobody except you needs to see any of the photos!
You are welcome to choose this option without obligation to book me for your wedding photography. Just ask me for more information.
Glasgow, Edinburgh and Perth are my usual locations but I’m happy to discuss shooting further afield if you have somewhere special in mind.
